About Our Silks Classes
Aerial silks, also known as aerial fabric or tissu, is a beautiful and challenging aerial art form performed on long pieces of fabric suspended from the ceiling. Our silks classes are designed to help you build strength, flexibility, and grace while learning this captivating discipline. 🎪 What to Expect • Learn fundamental silks techniques and movements • Build upper body, core, and grip strength • Develop flexibility and body awareness • Progress at your own pace in a supportive environment • No prior experience necessary for Foundations classes 🎪 What to Bring • Comfortable, form-fitting clothing (avoid zippers and buttons) • Water bottle to stay hydrated • Hair tie if you have long hair 👕 What to Wear • Leggings or athletic pants that cover the backs of your knees • Form-fitting top or tank top • Bare feet or socks • Avoid jewelry that could catch on the fabric 📋 Class Requirements • Silks Foundations: Open to all skill levels, perfect for beginners. Pricing: $100/month or $25/class; Non-members $30 per class. • Adult Aerials: Mixed-level classes for ages 9 and up. Pricing: $100/month or $25/class; Non-members $30 per class. • Open Aerials: Dedicated practice time for members of our community to work on skills they are learning in a supportive environment. Perfect for refining techniques and building confidence on the silks. Anyone can come! This is the perfect time to try the silks and meet the Ducking Gravity community. Runs Wednesdays from 7:00pm - 8:00pm. Pricing: Free for members; Non-members $10. • ACT! Classes: Aerial Competitive Team for ages 10+ and all experience levels. Mondays from 5:45pm to 7:15pm. ACT membership and coach approval are required. Pricing: $115/month or $25/class. Younger athletes ages 4 through 9 can join Junior ACT! on Wednesdays. • Homeschool Foundations: Daytime silks for homeschool students ages 9+. Tuesdays from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. See the homeschool page for dates and sign-up. Please note: Aerial silks can be challenging on the hands and body, so be prepared for some initial discomfort as you build strength and calluses. All classes are designed to meet you where you are and help you progress at your own pace.
